Crafting On A Budget in February
This month I’ll be sharing a fun DIY craft that won’t break the bank. The best part about this craft is that it only requires a couple supplies and the whole family can help.
Fun Crayon Shapes
- Silicone Mold
- Cooking Spray
Step 1: Purchase your supplies from the list above if you don’t already have them on hand.
Step 2: Take your crayons and break them into pieces small enough to fit in each mold. (I chose to put 2 different color crayon pieces in each mold.)
Step 3: After you’ve filled each mold with crayon bits, place your mold in the microwave.
Step 4: Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes to melt your crayons completely. (Microwaves vary. You may need to microwave at additional 1 minute increments depending on your microwave.)
Step 5: Let mold sit in microwave for 1 minute, then carefully remove mold and place it in the freezer for up to 5 minutes (Or until crayons have completely turned solid).
Step 6: Remove mold from freezer. Let mold sit at room temperature for 1 minute, then carefully remove crayons from mold.
Cleaning Tip: To remove remaining crayon residue from mold, spray PAM or cooking spray into mold, let sit for a 1 minute. Then wipe away crayon residue.
Do Not use mold for food purposes after making crayons.
